Three top spa treatments

Spa treatment

A visit to the spa has long been the staple of holiday wellness, and its popularity continues, but today’s travellers expect a blend of the natural and science-led.

According to industry reports, the current trends are biohacking – using science and technology to optimise your wellbeing – and neurowellness, a holistic approach to health aimed at reducing stress and supporting the nervous system.

We asked the experts at The Village Boutique and Spa in Malta to share three of the most popular spa treatments and explain what’s behind them. Here’s what they told us.

1. Glacier Hydration

“Always popular, this 50-minute moisturising facial stimulates the skin’s self-hydration mechanism. It does this by restoring the natural lipid barrier and preventing excessive water loss. Guests see improved softness, water balance and skin flexibility. It’s great for all ages, as it will help keep young skin in top condition or revitalise older skin.”

2. Cell C facial

“If you’re looking to slow down the ageing process, then Cell C is the one for you. This relaxing facial stimulates regeneration and repairs the skin from the effects of pollution and UV radiation.

“Sweet orange stem cells are combined with Vitamin C to provide antioxidants that help keep wrinkles and dark spots at bay. We recommend this pre-summer as it will help get your skin ready for the sun – especially here in Malta where temperatures climb to over 30C. It’s also a good one to repair damaged skin at the end of your holiday.“

3. My Body Code

“This is a popular slimming body treatment that includes a really relaxing exfoliating scrub, then a full massage with serum application and body mask. It’s always a personalised treatment and is designed for the individual using five serums. Each of these has specific components that cover different needs such as removing toxins, reducing fat cells, regenerating tissues and firming the body.”
